On Saturday morning I was up before the sun sending Derek off to the hospital. As I peeked out the window, I could tell it was going to be a day where wool socks & the comfiest of sweaters would be worn. It seemed as though the storm held out for Derek to return home that afternoon, and then dumped buckets of that fluffy white stuff New Yorkers call Nemo, and Michigan calls Tuesday. We promptly decided to push our dinner date and opted for an afternoon nap and then even more snuggling when we moved the mattress out to the front room for the night. So it was grilled cheese, orange crush, tile rummy & Netflix date night. Oh, we threw some Oreo's in at the end too...what's a date without a little something sweet?

That Time it was 40 Degrees & My Heart Skipped a Beat
It's true. It skipped a beat and started dancing to it. So, I headed out to the morning sun, and promptly realized it may have been 40 degrees, but that wind made it feel like negative 40.
Darn you wind.

Dear Derek on Valentines Day
This past year has been a whirlwind but I wouldn't have done it with anyone but you. I still get butterflies when I haven't seen you in a while and I will never stop loving when you give me kisses. I can't wait to spend many more Valentines days together, even if we just eat grilled cheese sandwiches and wear snuggly socks. Or this year, flying on an airplane and falling asleep to the sound of white noise. Maybe one day, it will be making a blanket fort with our adorable littles. No matter what, it will always be one of my favorite days as long as I'm with you.

Hawaii Was Good to Us
Hawaii was good to us. Just like on our honeymoon, we kept it pretty low key and just hung out at the pool and beach. We had rain a few days, but that didn't keep us from being outside and basically having the resorts all to ourselves. We stayed off the beaten track of hectic Waikiki, but visited for an evening for dinner. We both agree that we like the sleepy side of the island a lot more. We are thinking we will need another island vacation in a few years, but maybe somewhere even more remote like Tahiti. Ahh, even just saying it sounds fabulous and relaxing. So take the jump & enjoy our photos from the islands.
**Tropical packing tip: Pack light! As you can see, I wore pretty much a slight variation of the same 2 outfits and swimwear all week. Derek and I each packed a carry on bag and it was perfect. For girls, think skirts, t's, cute sandals and fun accent jewelry pieces and hats. Derek lived in shorts, t's/polos, and flip flops. It makes everything so much easier if you don't over pack!***

Five Things
/ convo hearts for some love day decorations /
Well we made it back to our cute little home in Michigan after a week in Hawaii. It's been great having our own little space back and a normal routine. Even though it is cold and snowy, it has been magical being surrounded by snow flurries & the frozen lake. We are headed to Las Vegas on Sunday for a podiatry conference & an award ceremony for Derek, so this week has been spent getting our house together and remembering how to actually live in the snow. I think 3 winters in Arizona ruined us....whoops!
